Really good cheese straws

I never really knew how to make cheese straws. Always thought there was probably puff pastry involved. Turns out it’s just loads and loads of cheese, who knew?! The original recipe is by Cathryn dresser (her book is awesome) but I’ve simplified it a lot to make it cheaper!

150g grated cheese

25g wholemeal flour

50g plain flour

25g butter

1-2 tbsp milk

1-2 tbsp dried herbs (of your choice, I used oregano)

Blend all ingredients except milk in food processor. This takes a long time (3-4 mins)

When dough is starting to come together, add milk if necessary to bring it into a ball

Knead it a bit, then roll out on floured surface and cut out your shapes. I did pumpkins.

Bake for 12 mins, then enjoy as a snack or picnic!
