Sweetheart sugar shortbread

Samantha now has her own cookbook and instead of always choosing what we make I sometimes ask her to flick through and choose… Her choices surprise me! This was a lovely simple recipe to choose, and despite being so basic worked really well! She loved shaping them like hearts and I think the sprinkling of sugar on top really appealed to her. It’s a great simple shortbread recipe so well worth keeping!

200g butter

100g golden caster sugar

300g plain flour

Pinch salt

Cream the butter and sugar

Add the flour and salt and mix until a dough forms

Knead the dough to bring it together 

Dust worktop with flour, then roll and cut out your dough and place on tins you’ve lined and greased

Bake for 10-15 mins

Sprinkle with a little extra caster sugar (you have to do this while they’re still a bit warm so it sticks)
